Alaska Had Zero Seafood Weight Violations

A report just published found that consumers may be paying a high price for seafood as ice is included in the price! In California a shocking 40% of the listed weight of seafood was from ice glaze. This glaze was counted in the labeled weight. The National Conference of Weights and Measures investigated 17 states to check for violations as it is illegal to add ice into the weight total. Of these 17 states including Alaska, Alaska was the only state found to have zero violations.

Alaska has a well run package testing program to ensure restaurants, retailers and consumers are protected.
