There was a great article in the LA times this week, summarizing the evidence for Omega 3 and health. It stated that omega 3 fatty acids can decrease heart disease, decrease pain in rheumatoid arthritis help fight depression and ADHD and decrease the risk of Alzheimers and prostrate cancer.
A leading Scientist states “there is strong medical nutrition literature based evidence in humans suggesting that the average American would probably have a healthier life, a lower risk of dying from heart disease and improved brain health by consuming more fish, or Omega 3 supplements”
Seafood is the best natural source and an enjoyable way to increase omega 3 in the diet. On average Americans only consume fish every 10 days much less than fish eating countries like Japan who are healthier.
